Combining FUE with Scalp Micropigmentation

There are many men who choose to combine different hair loss treatments to get the look that they desire. Some are able to treat male pattern baldness initially with just a hair loss shampoo, but eventually as the baldness progresses, a more aggressive treatment is usually utilized. After trying a hair loss shampoo, some will turn to a prescription or a topical solution. Eventually, many men will need to use a more aggressive treatment and some men decide to have a hair transplant surgery, while others are opting to have a treatment of scalp micropigmentation. Another popular choice is to have a combination of both of these treatments.

Male pattern baldness, also known as androgenetic alopecia, can be treated very effectively with hair transplant surgery. However, a man will need to be at a certain stage of baldness in order for the treatment to be effective. A hair transplant surgery is best to use when the man’s balding has reached its middle stage. If the man has reached the later phases of baldness, a hair transplant may not be the best option. In order to have a successful hair transplant, there needs to be a donor area that has healthy hair follicles, and in the later stages of balding, there usually not enough healthy hair follicles.

For men who experience male pattern baldness, their hair will start to recede on the sides and front of their head. Male pattern baldness comes on gradually and may not be noticeable for quite some time. Most men will notice that their hair is becoming thinner and they will have slight balding at first. Over time, the hair loss will increase slowly until they eventually have hair loss on the top of their head, usually in a horseshoe-like formation. The only hair that will be left will be on the back of their head and the sides of their head. Those areas of hair can then be utilized as donor areas for a hair transplant.

Follicular unit extraction, or FUE, is a method in which male pattern baldness is treated. In this method, the hair or follicular units are individually harvested or punched from the back of the scalp or donor area. With the traditional strip method for hair transplantation, not only do you have to take all hairs, but the patient also has to endure a painful cut, stitches and scar that they will have to deal with and try to hide. This method is best used for those with a receding hairline and those who have experienced only minor hair loss. Some people are able to reap the benefits of this treatment if they have balding in larger areas, but that would generally require having more than one transplant and they will mostly likely have pretty noticeable scarring. This scarring may be concealed if they combine their hair transplant with Scalp Micropigmentation.

Dealing with scarring is a very normal part of having a hair transplant. Many people will be able to hide scarring when their own hair starts to grow back out. It can be further camouflaged though with Scalp Micropigmentation, since Scalp Micropigmentation will blend in the scars from the FUE treatment. This is especially good for when men want to wear their hair shorter, which could otherwise expose the scarring.

FUE and Scalp Micropigmentation are two hair loss treatments that work very well together to effectively combat hair loss and give very natural looking results. Either treatment can be used on its own, but many are seeing the benefit of combining the two treatments. In order to determine which treatment is going to work best for your particular case and stage of hair loss, you should schedule a consultation so the hair loss physician can determine what will work best for you.
