Simple Ways to Keep Your Hair Healthy

There are many men and women who will experience some degree of hair loss throughout their life. Some of them will fortunately be able to regrow the hair that was lost, but as we continue to get older, the amount of hair that regrows will slow down and will stop altogether at some point. Heredity is a big contributing factor to how much hair can be regrown and for how long that hair will continue to grow.

Hair loss is typically more problematic for men than women and genetics are the biggest determination to how severe the hair loss will be. Losing your hair can happen at any age and there are many different reasons why people experience hair loss, including:

  • Anxiety
  • Environmental factors
  • Excessive use of heat/chemicals
  • Heredity
  • Pollution
  • Stress

Although you cannot actually “cure” baldness, you are able to do things that will keep your hair as healthy as possible for as long as possible. The first easy way to have healthy hair is to eat healthy. Your hair is made up of proteins and a diet that is healthy and well balanced can cause your hair to be healthier. When you eat a healthy combination of fruits, vegetables, eggs, whole grains, nuts and fish, you are giving your hair the best chance at being strong too. It is also recommended that you eat some foods that are rich in protein and fatty acids.

Making sure that you drink enough water is another way to keep your hair strong and shiny. When you are dehydrated, it can cause your hair to become brittle, dull and it will be more prone to breakage. Water really is the best drink for healthy hair and you should try to cut down on the amount of sugar and caffeine that you drink, since both of those cause you to be more dehydrated.

When you apply a great deal of heat and chemicals to your hair, you can cause great harm. Excessive blow drying, straightening, curling and dyeing of your hair will make your hair brittle and your hair will lose its strength. In addition, you should choose a shampoo and conditioner that will be gentle on your hair and scalp.

There are numerous benefits to getting a good night of sleep, and healthy hair is one of them. When you get a good 8 hours of sleep at night, your body gets more energy, which in turn allows your body to be able to provide nourishment and strength to your hair. Sleep also helps people to get rid of their stress, which is extremely beneficial since stress is a contributing factor to hair loss.

Many people are afraid that they need to incorporate vigorous exercise in order to reap the benefits from it. However, incorporating walks into your daily routine can help your hair to stay healthy and it may actually promote hair growth. Walking helps to increase your blood circulation, including the circulation on your scalp, and this increases the flow of important nutrients to your hair.

Although there is not a way to cure baldness, by incorporating these tips, you can help your hair to stay as healthy as possible.
